Welcome to Cycling Scotland

Community Cycling Innovation Fund

The Community Cycling Innovation Fund has been launched to help communities groups set up and evolve projects to improve life in their local area.

The aim of the Community Cycling Innovation Fund is to increase the wellbeing of communities across Scotland, enabling more people to have more opportunities to cycle and use cycles to achieve local outcomes. Cycling Scotland’s immediate aim is to provide grants for a small number of schemes that demonstrate innovative ways of using cycling and will serve as examples of good practice that can be followed by future projects and can be shared across the whole sector.

The Community Cycling Fund will consider applications against the following set of criteria:

Innovation

• Generates and encourage innovative ideas to increase the uptake of cycling

Supports the community

The Project;

• increases access to cycling across the whole community, in particular to excluded groups
• Uses the value of the bicycle for locally relevant needs and in doing so builds capacity and contribute to community development

Promotes Cycling

• Publicises and promotes the uptake of cycling
• Promotes cycling as a healthy physical activity
• Promotes cycling as a sustainable and efficient mode of transport and a viable alternative to the private car
• Supports individual development by promoting methods to encourage new cyclists
• Highlights cycling’s vital role in Scotland’s sustainable future
• Supports cycle rides and events

Supports personal development

• Projects should demonstrate in what ways the activities allow for individuals to develop as cyclists and in other areas of potential personal growth.

Health Gain

• Getting inactive people active and achieving the recommended levels of physical activity provides the greatest benefits in health gain.
