And I will…cycle 2000 miles!
Saturday 19 July – Friday 29 August
Two daring students have relinquished their summer holiday to cycle 2000 miles to raise vital funds for SAMH, Scotland’s leading mental health charity.
Chris Sanderson and Jamie Denholm will cycle a 2000 mile route that begins in Berwick upon Tweed and ends in Edinburgh and includes the North, South, East and West points of Scotland. It will take 6 weeks to complete their journey.
Chris, who is undaunted by challenge that lies ahead, said:
“We were both staggered to learn that more money was invested in advertising the problems surrounding salmon parasites than mental health in 2006. It’s essential that people are aware of mental health, and that is why we decided to raise vital funds for SAMH.”
It is hoped that the challenge will raise £5000 which will help to fund a SAMH free-phone information line for an entire year.
Charlie McMillan, SAMH Director of Research, Influence and Change said:
“I am delighted that Chris and Jamie have elected to raise money for SAMH by taking on this incredible challenge.”
Chris and Jamie would like to thank Trespass and Wood Engineering for their generous contribution to this challenge. Sponsorship can be pledged at their dedicated just giving site which is www.justgiving.com/2000miles.
