MSPs fix up their bikes for Bike Week
17/06/2009
MSP Patrick Harvie of the Scottish Green Party and Stewart Stevenson, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change, brought their bikes to work for an appointment with the Bike Doctor on Wednesday 17th June.
As Bike Week is in full swing, our Scottish MSPs pumped up their tires and put their spanners to work to revamp their bikes to ensure they are ready for a summer of cycling.

Bike Week is the UK’s biggest mass participation cycling event. This year it is challenging families to get more out of life by swapping their four wheels for two and exploring new places in their local community. Towns, villages and cities across the UK will host free cycling events with the theme of ‘Get more out of life: live local, get cycling’.

Thousands of events will inspire people to hop on their bikes and discover the benefits and pleasures of cycling locally. Over half of all car journeys are less than five miles long, so by switching them to an easy thirty minute bike ride, people can save money, discover new places that they would not come across in the car, shrink their carbon footprint and get fit!
